Obituary for Bailey Stanhope
It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of Bailey Scott Stanhope, 20, of New Hartford CT, on Wednesday July 4th 2018. He was born May 17th 1998 in Bristol CT, the beloved son of Scott and LaNelle Stanhope of New Hartford CT. Bailey was a graduate of NWR7, class of 2016, and employed by Bremar in Canton. His passion for the outdoors included, Swimming, Kayaking, Cliff jumping, and Snowboarding. Bailey was an avid fisherman, often posting remarkable catches in CT fishing and/or Social media. He also loved watching Netflix Series and video games (namely Call of duty).
In addition to his parents, Bailey is survived by an incredibly loving sister, Taylor Anne Stanhope. His maternal Grandparents, Kathy (Choquette) Humphrey, and Jack Humphrey, of Bristol CT. As well as a host of family from Arizona, Georgia, Vermont, Florida, and Connecticut. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Maryanne and Ronald Stanhope of Simsbury CT.
Bailey was an incredible man, with unmeasurable potential, whose life was sadly cut short by the terrors of drug abuse. He struggled with addiction for several years, repeatedly trying to overcome its fierce grip, often ashamed by its demoralizing effects. His family wants others to know these things because Bailey wasn’t just a drug addict; he was an amazing person, taken far too soon by a ferocious disease. There are addicts that get the message, others become the message, our family wants others to know his story so they will fight for change and raise awareness.
Our family will miss his heart of gold, devilishly handsome smirk, humorous antics, and genuine show of affection at the close of every conversation. Bailey was our son, our brother, a nephew, an uncle, a grandson, co-worker, and friend.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike
