Shirlee Ann Nevin, 82, of Torrington, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Wolcott Hall in Torrington. She was born December 20, 1935 in Torrington, daughter of the late George Raymond and Beatrice M. (Domack) Nevin. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s College having received her Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences. Ms. Nevin was an Executive Secretary for Connecticut General Insurance Co. for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Torrington, Connecticut and had enjoyed gardening, knitting and embroidery and collecting antiques.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Hammond of Simsbury; her son, Dennis Zele of Hartford; her brother, William Nevin; and two grandchildren, Christina Hammond of Unionville and Alanna Hammond of Simsbury. She was predeceased by her former husband Donald F. Zele, a son, David Zele and her son-in-law, Richard Hammond.
There are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 21st at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Catherine’s of Siena. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements.
