Obituary for Wentworth Alston Hamilton

Wentworth Alston Hamilton, 83, of Chriswell Drive, Simsbury, husband of Jean Machol Hamilton, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at his home. He was a life-long resident of Simsbury. Wentworth A. Hamilton was one of four sons born to W. Floyd Hamilton and Anna Rosalind Barwald Hamilton in Hartford, CT. Wentworth is survived by his wife, Jean Machol Hamilton, his brother W. Christopher Hamilton of Simsbury, and many nieces and nephews. Wentworth was predeceased by two older brothers, Floyd D. Hamilton and J. Edwin Hamilton. He graduated from High School at Darlington School, Rome, Georgia and attended Emory University for two years. Wentworth served in the US Army for three years. He joined The Village Water Company of Simsbury, CT where he was employed for 38 years. Wentworth A. Hamilton retired as Vice President in March 2000 when The Village Water Company was acquired by Aquarion Water Company. While employed by The Village Water Company, Wentworth was dedicated to high standards of service for supplying water to meet the needs of the people of Simsbury. Wentworth had strong personal knowledge of birding, practiced rehabilitation of injured avian, and a life-long love of photography.
Calling hours are Sunday, September 30th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. On Monday, October 1st at 10:00 AM, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
