Obituary for Thomas L. Sorgio

Thomas L. Sorgio died on September 20, 2018 with family by his side. Born in Hartford on January 5, 1925, son of the late Dominic J. Sorgio, Sr. and Julia (Daly) Sorgio, he moved to Simsbury in 1954. He worked in the wholesale liquor business throughout Connecticut, starting with Nulty and Sack in 1946 and ending his career with Brescome Distributors in 1984.

Thomas was proud to be an American. As a Veteran of WWII, he was a Sergeant in General Patton’s 3rd Army serving with the 736 Field Artillery Battalion through France and Germany receiving three Campaign Ribbons with four Battle Stars, as well as fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is predeceased by his beloved son,Tim Sorgio. Also, his brother, Dominic J. Sorgio, Jr. and his sister Marilyn Linde. Tom is survived by his wife, Marguerite Sorgio; a son, Tom Sorgio, Jr. of North Granby; two daughters; Peggy Sorgio-Hedus and Pam Sears, both of Torrington; a daughter-in-law, Susanne Sorgio; two sons-in-law, Gary Hedus and Mark Sears; four grandsons, Tim and Tom Hedus and Chris and Robbie Licina; two great grandsons, Jayden T. Licina and William A. Hedus; several nieces and nephews. Also, a special friend Eddie Goldsmith and his wife Lorri.
