Obituary for Frank James McCarthy

Frank James McCarthy, 90, of Simsbury, CT, beloved husband of Joan Evelyn (McKeever) McCarthy, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born July 9, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late James and Florence (June) McCarthy and had lived in Milford, CT for most of his life prior to retiring to Townshend, and then Brattleboro, VT, before moving to Simsbury, CT. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army and being honorably discharged as Sargent. Mr. McCarthy was an Insurance Executive for Mathog & Moniello prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Milford American Red Cross, serving eighteen years as Blood Donation Chair and then twice as Chapter Chair; he also served the Milford Chamber of Commerce and United Way. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford and Townshend, the Centre Congregational Church in Brattleboro, and First Church of Christ in Simsbury. He was a history buff and helped to have the Townshend Church placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Known for taking pictures of those around him, Frank also enjoyed tennis and gardening and was proficient at needlepoint. He cared deeply about his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Taryn McCarthy Lisowski and her husband Alan and Lauren McCarthy Conrad and her husband Scott and his four grandchildren, Hillary and Owen Lisowski and Matthew and Marc Conrad.

A celebration of Frank McCarthy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10th at the First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, CT.
