He was born July 9, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late James and Florence (June) McCarthy and had lived in Milford, CT for most of his life prior to retiring to Townshend, and then Brattleboro, VT, before moving to Simsbury, CT. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army and being honorably discharged as Sargent. Mr. McCarthy was an Insurance Executive for Mathog & Moniello prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford and Townshend, the Centre Congregational Church in Brattleboro, and First Church of Christ in Simsbury. He was a history buff and helped to have the Townshend Church placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Known for taking pictures of those around him, Frank also enjoyed tennis and gardening and was proficient at needlepoint. He cared deeply about his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Taryn McCarthy Lisowski and her husband Alan and Lauren McCarthy Conrad and her husband Scott and his four grandchildren, Hillary and Owen Lisowski and Matthew and Marc Conrad.
