Edward A. Glock, 90, of Avon, husband of the late Arlene (Peterson) Glock, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Governor’s House Rehabilitation Center in Simsbury with his family. He was born July 20, 1928 in Hartford, CT son of the late Edward C. and Olive (Stedman) Glock. He grew up in Hartford and lived in Avon for 58 years. Edward was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford and attended the Hartford Architectural School of Design. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S Navy as a Seabee. Edward was a Supernumerary for the Avon Police Department. He worked for the Metropolitan District followed by working as a Financial Advisor with John Hancock until retirement. Edward met his wife Arlene at a church dance and they were married on June 26, 1954 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of which he was a long standing member witnessing the baptism of his children and grandchildren. Edward was a life member of the Elks Lodge Torrington 272 , Gray-Dickinson American Legion Post 59 in Windsor and the Hartford-Evergreen 88 Masonic Lodge. He was present at the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944 and volunteered to assist the injured in the hospital. He was proud to be a Boy Scout and was an avid Yankee fan. In his long life Edward enjoyed hunting, golf, playing poker, traveling and spending time with his family. He most enjoyed his summers in Chatham, Cape Cod and winters in Pompano Beach,FL. He was compassionate and outgoing, loved to socialize bringing people together, enjoyed telling stories and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves his three daughters, Charlene Glock of Pompano Beach, FL, Daryl Glock O’Brien and husband Robert of Simsbury, CT and Dana Glock Estes and husband Daniel of Amherst, NH and three grandchildren, Kyle O’Brien and Dale and Dara Estes. He was predeceased by his son, Edward A. Glock, Jr. and Arlene P. Glock his wife of 54 years.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 17th at 11:00 am at Emanuel Lutheran Church Chapel, 311 Capital Avenue, Hartford followed by burial with military honors at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. The Vincent Funeral Home of Canton is caring for the arrangements.
