Condolence From: Robert Thoelen
Condolence: To the Burnham and Bailey families -
I was very saddened to learn that one of our bowling league's best friends passed away. Red came to Bradley Bowl as manager the year our league began ten-pin bowling - 1968. He was there for 35 or so years and developed Bradley into a world-class establishment. His efforts brought the pros to Windsor Locks. For about 20 years or so, Bradley was a tour stop for the PBA. I believe it was last called the "Greater Hartford Open". I bowled in some of the pro-ams events held in conjunction with the tournaments and brought my kids to watch as well. They were some of the best times of all my years of bowling!
Red always said that he really liked our league and the guys a lot since we were a "fun league" - the way bowling should be. He was frequently an honored guest to our end-of-year banquets. He did more for the sport than I could ever write about. I was glad to count him as a friend for so may years. We will all definitely miss him. May the Lord bless and comfort all of you during this very difficult time.
Love and Prayers,
Bob Thoelen, President
Hamilton American Bowling League

Condolence: Dear Donna,
I'm so very sorry you lost your Dad this week. He sounded like a wonderful man who lived a full and varied life. His time spent at the Hartford Times piqued my interest as my grandfather Robert Lewis worked there many years as a picture editor. Seeing your family name and Tariffville in the paper brought back some very pleasant childhood memories of our old neighborhood and time we spent together, although you may not even remember me. Thinking of you at this time and condolences to you and your entire family.

Condolence: Dottie and family: I got to know Red first when I was a bowling writer for the Arizona Republic and we met at the Firestone Tournament of Champions in the mid 1970s. Got to know him better when I served as one of the press relations people for the PBA. I will remember him as an affable, warm fellow whom I considered a friend. I'll always be grateful to him for introducing me to Asti Spumante wine.Who couldn't help but feel a kinship with Red. I have carried and will continue to carry fond memories of his friendship. I hope that your many great memories of him will bring you more joy than sorrow at his passing.

Condolence From:
Condolence: My thoughts and prayers are with you, Dottie and family. I first met Red at Bradley Bowl where we brought middle school kids for years. He was SO friendly, helpful and patient with all of us, especially the kids (some of which were special needs).

Then, we reunited at St. Bernard’s. He was an amazing man in all aspects. You and I know he is among God’s newest angels watching over us from above. Love to all,
Lorie Orzechowski
