Obituary for Lawrence John D'Amato

Lawrence John D'Amato, 86, of Avon, beloved husband of Jane (Dalziel) D’Amato, died peacefully Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born March 28, 1932 in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Nicholas and Antoinette (Sorresse) D'Amato and had lived in Simsbury prior to moving to Avon 20 years ago.

Mr. D’Amato was the Vice President of Vending Sales for Anco (Division of American News) for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Church of St. Ann in Avon and previously served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine's in West Simsbury. Larry was an avid golfer and played whenever he could. He and Jane were loyal supporters for the sanctity of life.

In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, he is survived by his sons, Michael D’Amato and his wife Mara of Burlington, John D’Amato and his wife Bonnie of East Granby; his daughter, Maria O'Donnell and her husband Joe of Simsbury; his grandchildren, John and Philip D’Amato, and Michelle and Christopher O'Donnell; his sister-in-law, Dolores Risse and her husband Robert, Larry's childhood best friend. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard D’Amato and sister Michelina Sarna.

The family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Monday, January 28th from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM, followed by procession for a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Ann in Avon. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Avon. The family expresses its sincere gratitude to the caring staff at John Dempsey Hospital.
