Obituary for Edward J. Kowalski

Edward J. Kowalski, 94, of Simsbury passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, February 23, 2019. He was born in Granby Hospital to parents John and Mary Kowalski of Tariffville. Ed went to Simsbury Schools, Hartford State Technical School (tool and die making), Henry Ford School in Dearborn, Ml (Engineer) and Hillyer College (Mechanical Engineer). Ed was a Navy veteran having served on the USS Bronstein DE189. Ed was a past member of the Tariffville Fire Company in the 1940's and 1950's. Ed retired from Stanadyne Corp. as Chief Engineer. Ed was a member of the Simsbury Farms Men's Golf Club and the Geritol Club and won many golf awards.
Predeceased by his wife of 67 years Bernice Kowalski, he was also predeceased by his 2 infant brothers John and Stanley Kowalski. Ed is survived by his three sons, Edward J. Kowalski and his wife Mary of Seneca, SC, Kevin J. Kowalski and his wife Barbara of Simsbury and John C. Kowalski and his wife Sharon of Myrtle Beach, SC. Ed also leaves seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His family we receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Thursday, February 28th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1st at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Tariffville.
