Obituary for Elizabeth McBride Boissard (McBride)

Elizabeth McBride Boissard, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2019 at her home in Simsbury. Betty was born February 6, 1927 and recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her daughter Karen Boissard and her husband Angelo Mulla of Waterbury, CT, her son Richard Boissard of California, her sisters, Reita Briggs of Houlton, ME and Phyllis and her husband Melvin Hovey of Presque Isle, ME. Betty also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Betty was predeceased by the love of her life and husband for over 62 years, George Aristide Boissard, her parents Vernon and Olive McBride, a sister in law, Suzanne Boissard Schmidt, and a brother in law, William Briggs.

Betty and George loved to travel, especially going on their river cruises abroad or to their timeshare in Cancun. They made new friends wherever they went. She enjoyed her gardening and touring the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden in full bloom, playing bridge with her lady friends, and visiting with her wonderful neighbors who will miss her very much. She always kept treats on hand for visits from her favorite four legged friends, Kei and Travis. Betty enjoyed many different jobs throughout her life but mostly cherished being at George’s side and knowing that they are now reunited in the eternal kingdom is of great comfort to her family and friends who adored them both.

Betty’s family would like to send a special thank you to Wendy Cooney for the care, concern and love she showed Betty for the last two years.
Betty and George were long time members and generous supporters of Simsbury United Methodist Church. She relished listening to the beautiful choir in which George sang.

Please join her family at a graveside interment and service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Road in Simsbury. The extended family will have a memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life at a later date to be announced by the Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury.

In memory of her years of volunteering for many different causes, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Betty’s name. Please visit Betty’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
