George Joseph “Joe” Melrose, III, 70, of Simsbury, died Monday, June 10, 2019 at his home. He was born October 4, 1948 in Hartford, son of the late George Joseph Melrose, Jr. and Barbara (Smith) Melrose and had been a life long resident of Simsbury. Mr. Melrose was in the Claims Department for The Hartford for 30 years prior to his retirement. Joe enjoyed reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid walker and skilled golfer.

He is survived by his three children, Julianne Milum of Georgia, Samantha Papa and her husband Anthony of Windsor and Stephen Melrose and his wife Amanda of West Granby; his siblings, Nancy Melrose, Sally Melrose, John Melrose and his wife Carolyn, Barbara Blanchette and her husband Jim and Elizabeth Melrose; his grandchildren, Jaelyn and Peyton, with three more on the way, his former wife of 27 years Sharon Melrose; 15 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older sister Pamela Koberg of Virginia.

There are no calling hours and service will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
