Ruth (Fahr) Nelson, 103, of Avon, wife of the late Raymond E. Nelson, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. She was born February 11, 1916 in New Britain, daughter of the late William E. and Anna (Bobecka) Farh and had lived in Avon most of her life. During her working years, Ruth was employed by United Technologies, Hurly Manufacturing and G. Fox. She was a member of the Avon Senior Center, West Avon Congregational Church, AARP and the Avon Citizens Police Academy.

She is survived by her son, Austin Johnson and his wife Cathy of Meriden; nieces, Katherine Solek of West Hartford and Anna Stoddard of Enfield; grandchildren, Michael Ezekiel of Canton, MA, Heather Little of Hamden and Ashley Victoria Grafton of St. Cloud, FL and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Fahr and her sister, Agnes Solek.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Burial will follow in Southwest Cemetery in Collinsville.
