Aurelio “Leo” Ranaldi of Avon, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday September 10, 2019. Born in New Britain on October 5, 1928, he graduated from New Britain High School in 1947. Leo proudly served in the United States Air Force until 1954 and was married for 39 years to his loving wife Clara, until her death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a baby daughter, Claudia, his parents George and Minnie Ranaldi, and his brother Ronald Ranaldi.

Leo was a long time member of Prince Thomas of Savoy, and a dedicated member of Christ Episcopal Church, both in Avon. In 1999, Leo retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 45 years of service, and continued to serve many of the same customers as a delivery man for the Hartford Courant.

Leo is survived by Mary Lou, his loving wife of 17 years; five children and their spouses, Lisa and Steve Salhany, Marcus and Tricia Ranaldi, Gregory Ranaldi and Chuck Cusson,
Aurelio and Kate Ranaldi, and Anthony and Renata Ranaldi. He adored his grandchildren, Christian and Claudia Salhany, Ian and Julianna Ranaldi, Aurelio “Aurie” Ranaldi, and Julian Ranaldi, and step grandchildren Valentina and Stefania Pirro. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Ranaldi and wife Arlene, and sister-in-law Sally Ranaldi. Also two stepsons and their wives, Robert and Francine Stoddard, and Michael and Rosanne Stoddard, and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, Saturday, October 5th from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM at the Prince Thomas of Savoy Society, 32 Old Farms Road in Avon. Dear Mary Lou
I'm sorry to read of Leo's passing. The mention of Christ Church makes me sad for what "could have been."In 2012,you and Leo and John & I seemed to be the "chosen 4" to run the coffee hour after services. We had fun and loved working with you, and 2012 ended it all.
John died in 2013.
Sincerely, Jane Bradovchak

David Metcalf and I wish to extend our deepest, heartfelt sympathies to Marcus, Greg, Tony, Lee, Lisa, and the entire Ranaldi family on the loss of their dad.

It was at a Ranaldi summer party that David and I first met in 1981 and fell rapidly in love. Mr. and Mrs. Ranaldi were both such warm and loving people, who opened their home and their hearts to an entire community.

Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out the to the family.
