Obituary

Steven Howard Hinckley, 49, of Barkhamsted, beloved husband of Donna (Potter) Hinckley, died Friday, September 20, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, mother and family. He was born January 20, 1970 in Windham, son of Virginia M. (Fraser) Hinckley and the late Howard K. Hinckley of New Port Richie, FL. Raised in Columbia, Steven attended Windham Tech where he completed his electrical course and was a graduate of the Class of 1988. Steven was currently employed by Konopka Electric, and prior to that was employed by Lawler Electric for many years. He also began his own business in 2018, Steve’s Electric, before he became ill. Steven enjoyed spending time outdoors doing a variety of things, grilling, gardening, bonfires and going to the beach. He loved to cook, bake, and his famous jellies and pickles. Steve was an avid Red Sox fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandson Nicky.

In addition to his loving wife of which he had an everlasting relationship of nearly 23 years, and his mother, Steven is survived by his stepson, Adam Potter; his grandson, Nicholas Potter who he absolutely adored; his sisters, Rosemarie Parker and her husband Eric and Catherine Cella and her husband Charles; his brothers, Bruce Hinckley and Richard Hinckley and his wife Barbara; his in-laws, Guy and Patricia Feeney; sisters-in-law, Laura Potter, Molly Stevens, Alisyn Feeney and Sara Feeney; brother-in-law, Doug Potter and his wife Cheryl and many nieces and nephews, along with his life-long friend, Jeffery Fox. Steven’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Jim Konopka and Scott and Tracey Ritchie for all of the love and compassion.

His family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Friday, September 27th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM closing with a memorial service at 6:00 PM. Please visit Steven’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
