Dear David and the whole Kubas family,
Dan and I send our most heartfelt thoughts, prayers and love to all of you. We have been so lucky to know you, Ev and Dave...and Canton has been made so much better from your deep commitment to serving its residents. Ever since I met Ev in 2013, I have admired and looked up to her, as such a smart, dedicated woman who did great things at a time when science hadn't caught up to the different ways that children learn, and society hadn't caught up to the fact that women's contributions should be respected! We will all miss Ev deeply. Please know that this community is grateful for you, Ev.

Love, Julie and Dan Rush and family

When Evelyn was in the 5th grade at Ginter Park Elementary School in Richmond, she was one of the stars of the school's Christmas pageant. She played the part of one of the Strasser children. This was a group of four children who traveled in Austria singing the new carol "Silent Night." The Christmas pageant was the story of how "Silent Night" came to be written. Not only did she appear on stage in the Ginter Park auditorium but later that following spring she paraded for four days on a special "Storybook" stage at the Miller & Rhodes Tea Room singing Silent Night. Then she appeared on WTVR-TV with Richmond's "Storybook Lady" singing the same carol. I know all of this because I was chosen to play one of the Strasser children too. And ever since then, whenever I hear Silent Night, I think of Evelyn and remember that special time in the 5th grade when we were semi-celebrities in Richmond. In later years of school, I remember Evelyn as being so very kind and thoughtful to people. My deepest sympathies to Evelyn's family. I shared this story because I hope when you hear Silent Night being sung at Christmas, it will have a special meaning for her family.

Don Williams, Evelyn's classmate at Ginter Park Elementary, Chandler Junior High School & Thomas Jefferson High School
