Suzanne Franck Newton, 79, of West Simsbury, beloved wife of John S. Newton, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the John Dempsey Hospital. She was born April 9, 1940, in Mineola, NY; daughter of the late Russell C. Franck, and Florence “Evelyn” (Dulfer) Franck. Suzanne attended Skidmore College, and graduated from Adelphi University in 1961, earning her BS and RN degree. She and her husband lived in Garden City, NY prior to moving to Simsbury, in 1969. Suzanne was a talented needlepoint designer and artist. She ran her own design business, “Designs by Suzanne”, for 35 years. She was a member of the CT Valley Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, serving as its Vice President for Membership for many years. Suzanne’s needlepoint talent and skill was recognized by the Embroiders’ Guild of America, in its awarding her the prestigious Master Craftsman Award in 1988. Suzanne was also a member of the Nutmeg State Orchid Society, and St. James Episcopal Church, in Farmington.

Suzanne also enjoyed gardening, growing orchids, cooking, and being “G’ma” to her six wonderful grandchildren. She had a love of animals, wildflowers, birds, and especially her dogs.

In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, she is survived by her three sons, Chris Newton, of Pembroke, MA, Geoff Newton, and wife Alice, of Granby, Rob Newton, and wife Dawn, of Colchester, and her grandchildren, Victoria “Tori” Newton, Colin Newton, Chelsea Newton, Sheryl Newton, Sean Newton, and Sarah Newton … and by her beloved dogs, “Penny” and “Biscuit”.

Suzanne’s family will receive friends on Friday, December 20th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 21st, at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington. Her ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden following the Service. A light lunch will be enjoyed in the Parish Hall following internment.
