Obituary for Hugh James Nocton

Hugh James Nocton was born February 17, 1942, and died on November 13, 2019 from complications from Dementia.

These I Have Loved by Hugh Nocton

My cat purring on my lap,
a baseball, caught on the run,
in the webbing of my glove.
The tugging on my line by a powerful force
unseen beneath the surface of the pond,
salt air on my wet skin
under a blue August sky,
rain on the roof.
Saturday morning,
the autumn scent of burning leaves,
the cathedral silence of the forest
blanketed in snow,
the blazing fire on a black winter’s night.
Every book that held a mirror to my soul,
the shared laughter of old friends reminiscing,
the unconditioned love in my mother’s eyes.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Atwater Memory Care Unit, the Skyview Unit, and McLean Hospice at McLean Home in Simsbury for their loving care and devotion to Hugh.
