Obituary for George H. Cirish

George H. Cirish, 73, of Canton, beloved husband of Daria (Hudock) Cirish, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 24, 1946 in Derby, son of the late George and Helen (Godzieba) Cirishioli and had lived in Windham, ME prior to moving to Canton 45 years ago. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, Class of 1968, having received his Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education. Mr. Cirish was a Manager of Auto Physical Damage Claims for The Hartford for many years prior to his retirement. George was a member of the Hartford Gun Club in East Granby and the Wintonbury Flying Club in Bloomfield. He was also a Public Notary, an NRA firearms instructor, and a past Cub Scout Master of Pack #177. George enjoyed skeet shooting, bass fishing, building model airplanes, deer and pheasant hunting, swimming in his backyard pool, and driving his Corvette and John Deere Tractor.
In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, he is survived by his sons, Geoffrey Cirish of Sacramento, CA and Matthew Cirish and his wife Macaela of Harwinton, CT; his sister, Marion Cochran and her husband Stephen of Naugatuck, CT; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Paula Jurewicz; sister-in-law, Patricia M’Sadoques and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws, Stephen and Jean Hudock.
His family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Friday, January 10th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 11th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canton Memorial Ambulance, P.O. Box 281, Collinsville, CT 06019.
