Obituary for James M. Floroski

James Michael Floroski, 71 years old, better known to loved ones as Jimmy and Papa, died peacefully in his home in Hartland, CT on January 12, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman, constantly looking to nab his next big fish or play another round of golf. In less perfect weather, he could be found at his home billiards table or bowling with friends.

Jim leaves behind the love-of-his-life and high school sweetheart, Linda Carrano (“Gaga”), and their three kids Sarah Nielsen (husband Seth), Susan Hope Walton (husband Mike) and Robin Lumpkin (husband Michael). Celbe Biffinger, Sean Walton and Cameron Nielsen were proud to call him Papa, and enjoyed many adventures with him and Gaga. He was also blessed with nieces and nephews and their children, who he loved to entertain. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Stanley and Eleanor Floroski, as well as brothers Stanley Jr. and Thomas.

Jimmy grew up in Trumbull, but he and Linda called East Hartland home, and built a life filled with friends and laughter. He could always be found at the food booth for the East Hartland Volunteer Fire Department carnival when he wasn’t busy giving his time at Oak Hill School. And for those lucky kids at The Children’s Clubhouse, he may have been Santa…

James retired at 60 years old after working as an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer/Metallurgist for Hamilton Sundstrand, but really could fix just about anything. He spent his retirement years with his one true love, touring the country in their RV, which would often be found at the Charlestown Breachway in RI surrounding by friends. They also loved the Florida Keys, where they made countless memories.

The family wishes to thank his sister-in-law Judy Donofrio for all her help during the last months of his life.

A celebration of life will be held at Holcomb Farm, 113 Simsbury Rd, West Granby on Wednesday, January 22 from 5 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Lung Association at www.Lung.org or the East Hartland Volunteer Fire Department at 34 South Road, East Hartland, CT 06027.
