Obituary for Raymond J. Montana

Raymond Joseph Montana, 72, of Weatogue, beloved husband of Roxi Elizabeth (Loomis) Montana, died Friday, January 17, 2020 at his home. He was born March 1, 1947 in Hartford, son of the late Joseph and Norma (Luzmoor) Montana and had lived in East Hartford prior to moving to Weatogue 65 years ago. Ray was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He attended Central CT State College. Mr. Montana owned and operated the family business, Montana’s Hardware, in Simsbury for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2012. Ray enjoyed woodworking, spending time on his lawn and garden, and watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by his daughter, Tracy Clarke and her husband David of Weatogue; his brother, Gary Montana of Simsbury; two grandchildren, Spencer and Paige Clarke, his nephews Joey and Brian and niece Rebecca, and his large extended family. He was the “unofficial mayor of Sunrise Terrace”.

There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will take place On Sunday, February 9, 1:00-3:00pm at The Maple Tree Café, Simsbury, CT.
