Obituary for Vincent Michael Tomasello

Vincent Michael Tomasello, age 94, passed away peacefully February 16, 2020. Born in Matawan, NJ to Michael and Antoinette Tomasello on February 25,1925, Vince was a longtime resident of Simsbury, CT and Palm City, FL. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and Holy Redeemer Church. He raised six children with the love of his life, Kay, with whom he spent 69 wonderful years. Vince served in the Pacific Campaign as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII earning the Bronze Star Medal. After graduating from Morse School of Business, he founded Airfield Service Bus and Taxi and Bradley Air Freight transportation companies based at Bradley Field International Airport. Vince was an avid golfer, philatelist, master gardener, owner of harness race horses, and devoted husband and father. “Pop” as his nine grandchildren and his five great grandsons lovingly called him, delighted in being surrounded by family.

Vince is predeceased by his wife, Kay, his four siblings, Humbert, Victor, Angelo and Carmela, granddaughter Jennifer Kline and son-in-law John Stanko. Left to remember Vince’s love are his children, Johanna Stanko, Kathleen McGregor (Dean), Jane Toner (Gerry), Mark Tomasello (Faye), Carol Sanfilippo (Arthur) and James Tomasello. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gloria Jones and Valerie Akerley for providing loving care to Vince. We are also thankful for the excellent care he received from the staff at The Suffield House.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT. Burial will follow at the Simsbury Cemetery.
