Obituary for Carol Ann Fitzgerald Ganci (Fitzgerald)

Carol Ann Fitzgerald Ganci, 77, of the Bakerville section of New Hartford, wife of the late Vincent Ganci, died Saturday, February 29, 2020 at her home with family at her side. She was born December 9, 1942 in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late James P. and Alice (Gallant) Fitzgerald. Carol lived in Hartford prior to moving to New Hartford 50 years ago and worked as a Human Resource supervisor for the Marriott Corporation for many years prior to her retirement. Carol was an active member of the New Hartford Senior Center and a long time member of her cherished CR group. She volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association, the New Hartford Public School Poet Laureate Project, the Litchfield Jazz Festival, among others. Coming from a family of artists, the talent continued as she was a prolific artist of various mediums, and sold her art at shows and fairs, winning several prizes and awards for her pieces. Carol was a frugal genius and talented treasure hunter that mastered the rhythm of weekend tag-saling. She found inspiration and beauty in everything, from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Carol’s home constantly flowed with music, laughter, friends and family. When not in Bakerville, she looked forward to being at her Cape Cod cottage relaxing on the deck with her peeps and catching the sunsets at Herring Cove.

She is survived by her son, David Ganci of Bakerville and his partner Shannon Boyle of Winston-Salem, NC; her daughter, Lisa Ganci and her spouse Andrea Turowsky of Shelburne Falls, MA; her former daughter-in-law Ann Chappell of Harwinton CT; her step-daughters Jozie Ganci Shackett of Plainville CT, and Mary Ganci of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sisters, Sandra Tiffany, Maureen Fitzgerald and Geraldine Seitz and her husband Tom; her brother-in-law, Bill Wyant; her grandchildren, Matthew Ganci and Stella Turowsky-Ganci; her sister-in-law, Philomena Sawyer and her husband, Fred; her brother-in-law, Salvatore Ganci and his wife, Yolanda; and many precious nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Dianne Fitzgerald Wyant, Kathleen Gagne and Patsy Burns.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00PM at the Bakerville United Methodist Church, 1087 Litchfield Turnpike (Route 202) in New Hartford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, and in memory of her late husband Vin, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The Vincent Funeral Home of Canton is caring for the arrangements.
