Obituary for Angelo J. Garafalo Jr.
Angelo Joseph Garafalo Jr. Of Winsted, died peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on April 22, 2020 at the age of 84.
Angelo was born on August 28, 1935 in Winsted CT to Angelo Joseph Garafalo Sr. and Frances Garro Garafalo. He attended local schools in Winsted and went on to join the Navy in September of 1952 and was stationed to the USS Rockwall APA230 until October 1955. Shortly after leaving the Navy, he married Barbara Marholin. His children remember him as a hardworking man who loved his family.
Angelo was accomplished at carpentry and auto-mechanics. He owned and operated his own full-service station for many years in town and then went to work for the Town of Winchester as a Housing Inspector until he retired in 2005. He was an active and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing 9/5 with his friends. Angelo was an avid Yankees fan.
Angelo is survived by his sons Angelo Garafalo III (Carol) of Winsted, Mark Garafalo (Gail) of Simsbury, and Richard Garafalo (Debbie) of South Windsor and his lifelong partner Ginny Crossman. Angelo also leaves behind grandchildren Shannon (Garafalo) and Sam Fowler, Justin Garafalo and girlfriend Kate, Michael Garafalo, Nicole Garafalo, Dan and Katherine Jacobs, Krysta Jacobs and boyfriend Ross, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his late wife Barbara Ann Garafalo, parents, Angelo and Francis, his brother Paul, and his sister Pat.
A private burial will be held at in Winsted at the convenience of the family. A memorial service and reception will be scheduled at a later date.
