Obituary for Jean Elaine Lafontaine

On December 17th, 2020 Jean Lafontaine was called to her heavenly home. She was born on December 14th, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut.

Jeannie was a warm and friendly person who was very devoted to her mother. She was loved by all of her family and cherished the holidays and family events where she could visit with them. Jeannie had an energetic and enthusiastic presence, and her playful sense of humor and love of animals demonstrated her appreciation for the kindness and goodness in others. She had a joyful love of music and its cheerful influence.

She was a member of St. Mary Church most of her life and loved participating in the liturgy, singing the songs and saying the responses very loudly!

Jeannie was loved by her family and friends very much and owned a piece of each person's heart. While she will be sorely missed, she will enjoy being reunited with her mother and father, grandmother, and aunt in heaven.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Raymond Lafontaine and Catherine (Comotti) Lafontaine, her aunt, Theresa Rinaldini and her maternal grandparents, Patrick and Domenica Comotti and a dear uncle, Elmo Comotti.

She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law Noreen Scafuri and her husband Jack, nieces Jackie Alexander and her partner, Arnold Chase, Andrea Scafuri and her husband, Dr. Jeff Cohen, and her nephew, Tom Scafuri, and his wife, Elise. In addition, Jeannie was loved by a great-grand niece, Morgan Scafuri and three great -grand nephews: Bryce Alexander, Chase Alexander and Ryan Scafuri. She will be dearly missed! Jeannie's way of seeing the world taught others the value in looking for joy and appreciating the positives in life. Her place in the family will be treasured forever.

Burial will be at Saint Ann Cemetery in Avon, CT. A Mass celebrating her life will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the ASPCA. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements.
