Obituary for Ann Knapp

Ann D. Knapp, of Keene, New Hampshire, formerly of West Simsbury, Glastonbury and West Hartford, Connecticut and Bellevue, Washington, wife of the late Richard W. Knapp, died peacefully Wednesday, December 16, 2020. A graduate of the University of Rochester, she was a mathematics teacher and tutor and was later employed in various technical areas in aircraft and insurance companies. She was an enthusiastic amateur musician, enjoying recorder playing, teaching, and performing, as well as choral singing, particularly in the English cathedral tradition, singing in church choirs and choral societies and participating in Royal School of Church Music courses and festivals in the United States and England. She was an active member of The Musical Club of Hartford for many years. Other favorite interests were ice dancing, traveling, and book collecting.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Stanford, of Keene, New Hampshire; grandchildren Allison McGahie Kelley and Patrick Mueller; great-grandson Weylen Kelley; stepchildren and step grandchildren; sisters Mary Putnam, Nancy Sutton, and Linda Henderson. She was predeceased by husbands Lawrence Stanford, John Baird, and Richard Knapp, and son James Stanford.

A service for the family will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the music program of Trinity Episcopal Church, Hartford, The Musical Club of Hartford, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
