Obituary for Carl "Dan" Arvidson

Carl “Dan” Arvidson Jr., 88, of West Simsbury, took the locomotive to heaven on Thursday, January 7, 2021 to join his wife Ethel (LaMin) in eternal rest. Both were born in New Jersey and the fates started their work in the 1st Grade, when always bold Ethel gave Dan a kiss. Over a decade later their paths crossed again when Dan’s sister, Ruth, would bring her friend from work, Ethel, to the house and the fates finished their work. They married May 5, 1956. Together they raised 4.5 children: Dan (Katie), David, Suzanne (Bob), Laura and the apple of Dan’s eye, granddaughter Miranda. They have six other beloved grandchildren Alex, Zachary, Danny, Trevor, Erica and Nicholas. Dan retired from Hamilton Standard as a Mechanical Engineer but his passion was theatre organs. They travelled the country to visit the beautiful instruments and talented organists through the ATOS. Never one to lollygag around, Dan found a hobby of collecting and restoring player pianos and built his own orchestrion, probably because Ethel would not let him build a theatre organ in the house. They are deeply missed but will always be with us.

At this time, services are private. The Vincent Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Dan’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes
