Obituary for Beverly E. Miller

To sum up a life in a few short paragraphs does not do justice to anyone. But we find ourselves today remembering our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Beverly Elizabeth Cashman Miller of Bloomfield, CT in just such a way. She moved to whatever adventure is next very peacefully on December 10, 2020 with her family keeping close vigil.

Some seventy-eight years earlier, Beverly was born the first of five children to Rose Marie (Fournier) Cashman and Timothy S. Cashman. She married and had three children of her own whom she raised while working and attending school to become a social worker. She worked for 33 years for the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services as the Regional Manager and in that role she helped countless individuals, who were struggling in some way or another, find help and hope. She also worked as the O?ce Manager for Ferry Law, her son’s law firm, for 20 years where she o?ered sage wisdom along with her organizational skills.

Beverly had her hands dirty most of her life. She was an avid gardener and loved her gardens passionately. They were magnificent and well- documented in copious notes, photographs and diagrams. If her hands weren’t covered in soil, they were covered with flour, as she was a magnificent baker and adored cookbooks. Actually, books of all types and genres were another passion, and her house was filled with them. Despite filling her heart with the beauty of art, books, and gardens, she had plenty of room left for her beloved pugs dogs. They loved her too, and there was always one by her side, in her lap or resting on her bed with her. Her sweet Lilly Belle is still looking for her. She belonged to many dog rescue groups, was Queen Bee for the Red Hat Society, and a member of the Women’s League of Voters.

Life is too short, and there are so many we leave behind. As for Beverly, she leaves her children Christine Roman, Kevin Ferry, and Kimberly Ferry. She leaves her step-children Ricky Miller, Karen Miller Grant, Jayne Miller Shea, Sandy Miller Corte, and Jim Miller.

Beverly also leaves her sister and brother-in-law Susan and Carl Johnson, brothers John Cashman and William Cashman. Her grandchildren will miss the many adventures they had together, and many nieces, nephews and
great-grandchildren will miss her many kindnesses to them as well as her love-infused home-cooked meals.

Waiting for her with open arms is her most-beloved husband, Richard Miller.

May we all spend the short time we have on Earth loving each other and making the world a better place than when we arrived. Good-bye Beverly. Your life was well-lived.

Services were private for the family. Beverly would be pleased, if you care to make a donation in her memory, that it go to Dog Star Rescue (www.dogstarrescue.org), a local Bloomfield dog rescue that helps hundreds of unwanted pups each year find loving forever homes.
