Obituary for Robert Francis Sweeting

Robert (Bob) F. Sweeting, 85, of Bloomfield CT, beloved husband of Elizabeth Sweeting, died December 25, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born April 14, 1935 in New York, NY, son of the late Edward and Theresa (Napier) Sweeting and lived in Yorktown Heights, NY prior to moving to Bloomfield, CT 20 years ago. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Airforce. He received an associate degree in Electrical Design from Westchester Community College. Mr. Sweeting was an Associate Engineer for Lockheed Martin for over 40 years and was on the cutting edge of Doppler radar development. Bob was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees. He enjoyed home renovations, building/repairing cars & electronics, but mostly, spending time with his family.

Robert was married for 60 years to Elizabeth, who passed just three weeks after him. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Rabbitt and husband Bill of Simsbury; his son, Robert Sweeting and wife Diane of Yorktown Hgts, NY; his grandson, Michael Rabbitt and wife Jennifer; granddaughters, Jess Rabbitt and Emily Rabbitt; sisters, Carol Porpora and husband Vincent and Joan Polizzi and husband Andrew; sister-in-law, Marie Perrone and husband Joe; beloved friends, Frank and Mary Covino and Anne Lodding, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Ned and Richard Sweeting.
