Obituary for Martha B. Apanovitch

Martha (Bors) Apanovitch, 93, of North Canton, CT, died on February 11, 2021 of COVID-19 at Hartford Hospital.

Martha was born on April 19, 1927 to Andrew and Antonina (Terlecka) Bors in West Granby, CT. She graduated from Canton High School and worked for Pratt & Whitney and Underwood Computing Machine Co. during WWII. Later in life Martha worked for Dunning Sand & Gravel and the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom.

Martha leaves behind her four grandchildren: Ryan Apanovitch and his wife Erin of Bristol, CT, Eryn (Apanovitch) Milian and her husband Alexyz of Palmetto Bay, FL, Evan Apanovitch of Miami, FL, and Colin Apanovitch of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, Martha is survived by her sister Violet Kyes of Torrington and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many very dear friends including Rachel and Philip Shenkman and their parents who will be taking care of her beloved four-legged companion Miacoda Rose.

Martha is predeceased by her husband, Frank Apanovitch; her sons, James and Andrew Apanovitch; as well as her companion, Charles Stone; four brothers, Stanley, Walter, Philip, and Richard Bors; and two sisters, Genevieve Dombkowski and Eleanor Steenhoff.

The family would like to thank the many people who assisted Martha in remaining independent after she was diagnosed with macular degeneration and could no longer drive. She enjoyed interacting with the community and was still active and engaged through her last days.

Martha was a member of St. Patrick Church in Collinsville, CT and the family will be scheduling a Memorial Mass for her and her son Andrew in April. A private burial will take place after at Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville.
