Walter Southworth Avery, II, 70, went to peaceful rest on Friday, February 19th in Avon, CT. He was born and raised in Springfield, MA, son of Nancy and Walter Avery. Walter attended school and university in MA and later moved to Canton, CT. He loved to be active and enjoyed a myriad of pursuits. Walter enriched the lives of countless people around him; He always had a good word, jokes and big smile for everyone. Walter enthusiastically engaged in outdoor activities, art, culture, music and continued education. He joins his wife Anne (Zeiner) Avery and children Geoffrey and Elizabeth. Walter is survived by his son Stephen, sisters Nanci, Kimberly, Diana, Roxanne, brother-in-law John, adored nieces and nephews, Jen and John Wieland and Michael and Conor Shammas and other many extended family members.


A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 26th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, CT. The service will be livestreamed in Walter’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O.
