Obituary for Kenneth C. Maker

Kenneth Charles Maker of Coventry, CT passed peacefully from this world surrounded by his family and friends on February 19, 2021. Ken was the oldest son of Muriel F. Bennett and Charles C. Maker, born October 26, 1945 in Portsmouth, NH. He leaves behind his brother David P. Maker of Niantic, CT (Debbie A. Marino) of Niantic, CT, two sons, Charles C. Maker (Cheryl A. Lidberg) of Carbondale, CO and Nathan C. Maker (Jean Smiley) of Simsbury, CT. He leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Makenzie and Tristan of Carbondale, CO and Kathryn and Nathan of Simsbury, CT and two nieces, Lauren M. Siviski of Portland, ME, Abigale Maker of New York, NY and a nephew Geoffrey Maker of Waterford, CT.

After graduating high school, he proudly served his country from 1963-67 in the U.S. Air Force. After receipt of an honorable discharge from the service, he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT for 43 years before he retired. He loved retirement and the outdoors and spent his time riding his Harley along Connecticut’s backroads, fishing in long Island sound, and hunting in Cutler, Maine. He was a master of all things automotive and home repair and loved to assist his family and friends with their projects.
He loved his family and friends, lived his life his way, and gave what he could. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Institute in lieu of flowers. A private memorial is planned with family in New England in the Spring.

The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Ken’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
