She was a 1956 graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, and began her career with Connecticut General Insurance in Bloomfield, advancing to become an underwriter.

Mary continued with CG Insurance until 1969, when she and her husband Dave, started their family on Case Road, Burlington, where she remained for over 50 years prior to moving to Farmington in 2019.

Mary returned to the workforce in 1982, and spent over 30 years as the Office Manager of University Health Professionals Union Local 3837 in Farmington. She loved her position and worked until she was in her late seventies. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville and was a Notary Public. Mary enjoyed shopping, cooking, computers, watching movies at home, and traveling. Her grandkids can recall Nonnie’s sweet tooth and her never-ending stash of goodies! She was always ready to defend those who she felt were being mistreated. Mary will be remembered for her charisma, her love of animals, her quick wit, her sense of humor, and her willingness to give advice.

Mary is survived by her three children, Kelly McCuin-Kelly and her husband Michael of Danbury, Tracy McCuin Wennberg and her husband Douglas of New Hartford, and her son Michael McCuin and his wife Edyta of Wethersfield. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Elisabeth and Evelyne Kelly, Evan and Liliahna Beaman and Wesley Wennberg, and Annika and Kaeden McCuin.
