Obituary for William Pike

William (Bill) Donald Pike, of Simsbury, CT, beloved husband of Virginia (Pullar) Pike, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 13, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born March 30, 1934, in Cleveland, OH, son of the late William Edward and Dorothy (Schuchard) Pike and had lived in Erie, PA and Barrington, IL, prior to moving to Simsbury over 40 years ago. Bill was a graduate of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he received both his undergraduate and Master of Business Administration degrees. He also served in the Army National Guard in Cleveland. Bill worked at U.S. Steel before building a career in the paper industry, where he served in various Sales and Marketing roles for Hammermill Paper Company, followed by Newton Falls Paper Company where he was the Director of Sales and Marketing. In his retirement, Bill co-owned and operated Boykins Music stores throughout Virginia. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Simsbury, CT, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing basketball and football in high school and later in various basketball leagues.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his daughters, Cathy Vintzileos and her husband Dr. Anthony Vintzileos of Locust Valley, NY, and Cindy Gaylord and her husband Jeffrey Gaylord, JD of Chatham, NJ; his grandchildren, Barbara Vintzileos Kontos and husband Christos, Dr. William S. Vintzileos and Virginia Ann Rolfe Gaylord, and his great granddaughter, Katerina Kontos.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, CT on Saturday, March 20th at 1:00 PM.
