Obituary for Beverly Longo

Beverly Ann Longo passed in peace on Thursday, March 18, 2021. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island and married her high school sweetheart, Bob, who preceded her in death in 2001. Beverly loved being a wife and homemaker, and excelled at sewing, baking, and raising her family. Her favorite flower was lily of the valley. She was Mom and Grandma to us, and Bev if you were friends - and if you ever so much as spoke with her, you were friends. Bev was a social butterfly who loved to travel and explore, even just locally, and she knew more about every corner of New England than any of us. She was a passionate researcher, and almost any gift she ever gave came with a neatly folded up printout with information about its value, who made it, and where it came from. She was a collector - of beautiful objects, hat pins, jewelry, stories, and the hearts of folks she met.

Bev’s greatest joy was her family and grandchildren and friends, and she showered them all with generosity and love. She genuinely saw each of us, and our humanity. This is why if you’ve ever spoken, you were friends. It’s because she saw you, your humanity, and reached out towards it. She was always reaching out towards. For hugs, for new connections, for every little spark of beauty that could be found.

Beverly is survived by her devoted partner, Ken, her loving daughters and son-in law, Diane, Joanne, Rob, and Marianne, and her cherished grandchildren, Daylynn, Kirsten, Griffin, Sam, JJ, and Sophie. We will love and miss you always, and take comfort in knowing that you are with Dad. Beverly’s family will gather for a private service and ceremony to celebrate her life. If you would like to honor Bev we ask that you spend time with your loved ones, brighten someone’s day, and find joy in the little things.

Private burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Beverly's "Book of Memories" at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
