Obituary for Barbara Nascimbeni
E. Barbara (Gaiser) Nascimbeni, 82, of Simsbury, beloved wife of Ben T. Nascimbeni, died Monday, April 12, 2021 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 4, 1938 in Hartford, daughter of the late John E. and Elizabeth (Haertl) Gaiser and had lived in West Hartford prior to moving to Simsbury 62 years ago. She attended West Hartford Schools and was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy. Mrs. Nascimbeni was the Bookkeeper for the family business, Nascimbeni and Jahne Surveyors in Avon for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury and was involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Barb enjoyed sewing and knitting having donated dozens of items to church and homeless. She also loved playing golf, playing cards with Jane and Lenny Lanza, taking trips to the casino with Jane Woods and had enjoyed lunches in Westbrook, CT with her favorite cousins, Charlene Gunning and Betty Lynskey.
In addition to her loving husband of 62 years, she is survived by her son, Michael Nascimbeni and his husband Ben Rivera of Avon; her grandchildren, Tanner John Nascimbeni and his fiancée Hannah Boulden of Hartford and Halie Elizabeth Nascimbeni; daughter-in-law, Stacy Knisel and her husband Russell Knisel and his children Nick and Kelly and her wife Brianna of Mystic CT; her brother, Jack Gaiser and wife Deana of Syracuse, NY; her sisters-in-law, Stella Girardin of Simsbury, Mary Caserta of Canton and Jean Zappalorti and husband Alvaro of Avon; several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins in the U.S. and Germany. She was predeceased by her son, Ben Nascimbeni, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Louis Nascimbeni, Richard Caserta and David Girardin and a nephew, David Girardin, Jr.
Barb’s family will receive friends during a walk-though visitation at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Friday, April 16th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Masks and social distancing are being followed, and as such, the visitation line may extend outdoors. Please dress accordingly. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 17th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. All are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
