Obituary for Donald Andrew Goellner
Donald Andrew Goellner, 59 passed away on March 17, 2021 following complications with pneumonia in Las Vegas, NV where he resided. Donnie was born in Patchogue, NY on October 3, 1961. He was the son of the late Donald A. Goellner and Sara Kiley Reid. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Gerald J. Reid and step-sister, Margrit Reid. Donnie is survived by his sister, Jane Goellner Watson (David) of Raleigh, NC; step-brother, Jerry Reid (Denise) of Burlington, CT; step-sister, Mary Reid (Ray Rundelli) of Auburn, OH; step-sister, Tricia Reid of Acton, MA; and two nieces, Sara Kiley Watson and Kathryn Langill Watson. He leaves many additional extended family members.
Donnie cherished his childhood in Simsbury and his family's annual visits to Martha's Vineyard. He was an avid sports fan with a special fondness for the Boston Red Sox. Upon his return from Marist College, he resided in Torrington before joining the Air Force where he served in Inventory Management at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado. Donnie provided volunteer services for many years giving back to others with mental illness. Much of his adult life was focused on independence and travel which led him to both Virginia Beach, VA and Las Vegas, NV.
Donnie will be laid to rest next to his mother in the Simsbury Cemetery. A family celebration of his life will be scheduled for this summer.
