Obituary for Ramon Padron

Ramon Padron, Jr., of Simsbury, beloved husband of Claire Ann (Kurowski) Padron, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at home with family by his side. He was born November 4, 1940 in Havana, Cuba, the eldest of seven children of Ramon Padron, Sr. and Aurora (Vazquez) Padron. He came to America with his father in preparation to bring the family, starting in Miami and eventually settling in Brooklyn, NY, next door to his future wife Claire. Ray took night classes at CCNY, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained a position at Aetna Life and Casualty as a Safety Engineer and rose to the head of his department prior to retiring in 2000. He went on to real estate with Claire for 15 years. Ray was an avid photographer having belonged to the Simsbury Camera Club. He gave freely of his photography talents to town organizations, such as, the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce and the Simsbury Land Trust. He created a book of photos entitled “Simsbury, A New England Jewel”.
Ray also loved cars, tools and new technology. He was a man of honor who loved his family and the USA above all.

In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Clara Koblosh and husband John of Enfield and Margaret Padron and William Rosenstein of East Haddam; his grandchildren, Victoria Rose Padron and Melinda Koblosh Ambury and her husband Mathew; his siblings, Aurora delaTorre, Sylvia Padron, Paul Padron and wife Terry, and Henry Padron and wife Mia; his sisters-in-law, Susan and Deborah Padron and eighteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jorge Padron and Fernando Padron.

His family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, June 16th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 17th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
