Obituary

Linda Jean West Miano, 77, of Avon, CT passed away suddenly on June 10, 2021. She was born in New Britain, CT to Christine Mary Durant and Martin Roger West, Jr. Linda was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Anthony “Tony” Miano, her younger brother, Martin “Butch” R. West, III, her three children, Andrea Dierolf (Volker), Tracy Chartier (Rene), and Michael Miano (Karen). She had six grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally and of whom she was very proud. Linda was predeceased by her older sister Joan and her parents.

Linda grew up in Bristol, CT and she attended the University of Connecticut, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Tony. After getting married, she and Tony settled down in Plainville, CT where they started a family and remained until moving to Avon, CT. Linda worked at Luke’s Donuts for many years, in addition to being a stay-at-home mom to her three children, Girl Scout Leader, and number one fan at hockey, traveling soccer, basketball, swim meets, and dance performances. Linda’s annual family tradition of over 70 years was to go to Cape Cod, MA every summer, a tradition she continued with her own children and grandchildren. Linda was happiest when she got to spend time with her children and grandchildren in California, Connecticut, and Maine. She was an avid reader, talented seamstress, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a cherished friend. Linda never turned down a game of solitaire or a chance to spend time with her family, especially around the dinner table. From clamming to kayaking, collecting sea glass to watching the sunset, wading in the brook and flaking mica off rocks to playing badminton, racing bikes in the driveway to building snowmen, feeding cardinals to catching fireflies, floating in the ocean to days at the pool, Linda will be remembered for her fiery spirit and feisty personality. We love you to pieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Tony, Children ,and Grandchildren,
We will fondly remember visits with Linda and family when we would meet each summer at Days Cottages. I remember the summer Linda swam the entire length of the cottages, seeing her in her great floppy hat paddling a kayak and stopping to visit at several of the cottages though out the week. Her laugh and smile will be missed.
We hope that memories of times together will bring you comfort.
Sorry for your loss.
