Obituary for Robert Anthony Voroscak

Dr. Robert A. Voroscak, 82, the beloved husband of the late Theresa P. Voroscak, died peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born in Blakley, PA on August 1, 1938, and lived in Bridgeport for 33 years prior to his move to Simsbury. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. He was retired from the State of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. Dr. Voroscak was employed in the fields of Rehabilitation and Education for 42 years. He was project training coordinator at The University of Hartford Regional Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program Region 1 (New England) Continuing Education Center (RCEPCRP) which provided 22 two and three day regional training programs per year for personnel in New England Community Rehabilitation Programs.

Prior to the RCEPCRP, he was the Coordinator of Planning, Project Development, and Training for the Connecticut Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS). During his 28 years at BRS, Dr. Voroscak also held positions ranging from Senior Rehabilitation Counselor to Coordinator of Community Rehabilitation Program Development. In addition, he was actively involved in significant federal and state rehabilitation initiatives which created many programs, services and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Voroscak was active as an officer and board member of many professional and non-profit organizations, task forces, advisory committees, and think tanks, and had received numerous awards. He was a gubernatorial appointee to the Connecticut Council on Developmental Disabilities and services as adjunct faculty for the University of Hartford and Assumption College.

He was listed in editions of Marquis Who’s Who in the World, America, the East American Education, Medicine and Healthcare, and Human Services Professionals, and was selected for the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also listed in the National Distinguished Service Registry for Medical and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Dr. Voroscak was the son of the late Stephen and Theresa Voroscak and is survived by a daughter and her spouse, Stacey and Robert Michaud; his beloved granddaughter, Kailey Grace Michaud; a sister, Amelia; a sister-in-law, Carol Belchick; two brothers-in-law, John Cennamo and Nikolas Paternoster and spouse Linda and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa and a daughter, Lisa Marie.

His family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, August 4th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Inurnment will follow in the Sycamore Mausoleum at the Simsbury Cemetery.
