Obituary for Robert D. Rollins

Robert D. Rollins, 75, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Jennie (Annunziato) Rollins, died Sunday, July 25, 2021 at his home. He was born July 2, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Robert Bolton and Giuliana (Galantara) Rollins and had lived in Port Washington, NY prior to moving to Simsbury 33 years ago.  Bob grew up in Italy and attended the Overseas School of Rome. He was fluent in Italian. As a graduate of Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now known as the NYU Tandon School of Engineering), Class of 1969, Bob received his BS in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at Sperry, later working at Lockheed Martin, then Raytheon prior to his retirement. As a field engineer, he traveled to many locations around the world and loved to tell stories of his travels and work. Bob enjoyed tinkering with electronics, was a talented handyman who enjoyed woodworking, and loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his “bella bambina” granddaughter.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by his son, Andrew Rollins and wife Cindy Kung of Santa Monica, CA; his daughter, Emily Glynn and husband JD of Canton, CT; his brother, Thomas Rollins and wife Nancy of Dunlap, TN; and his beloved granddaughter, Sophia Rose Glynn. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Rollins.

Bob will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father who always had a kind and curious disposition and a twinkle in his eye. He was admired by many and will be greatly missed. At this time, there are no services planned. As Bob was a dog lover, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to For Our Friends Dog Rescue at forourfriends.org or via P.O. Box 203, Oakland Gardens, NY 11364. Please visit Bob’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
