Obituary for Nancy Hudon

Nancy Ann (MacCallum) Hudon, 88, of Canton, beloved wife of Frederick Burt Hudon, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton. She was born May 10, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of the late Thomas Gordon and Katherine (Strausbaugh) MacCallum and lived in Canton 62 years.
Nancy attended The Gilbert School in Winsted, Ct, and was a telephone operator for a short time prior to her marriage. She was a proofreader for The Foothills Trader, and the church bulletin in Collinsville.

Nancy worked for First Federal Savings and Loan, and Society For Savings prior to her retirement. She was a member of the North Canton Community United Methodist Church, former member of The Collinsville Congregational Church, Past Matron of The Eastern Star, The Women's Auxiliary of The Avon VFW and held many volunteer jobs.
Nancy enjoyed golf and bowling, and also competed in the Ct. and Maine Senior Olympics, playing tennis. She was an accomplished seamstress, from upholstering furniture to making doll and children's clothes, to making her sisters wedding dress. She had quite the flair for design, and an eye for fashion. Nancy was also an avid quilter, having made quilts for each of her children, most of her grandchildren, and many others. Nancy was active in Canton Benefit Productions, from costume design to performance. She was a consummate Scrabble player, and loved all sorts of card games, including Bridge and Cribbage. Nancy loved to dance, ski, and work in her garden. She rode with The Hudon Harley Gang, and passed her love of skiing down to her kids. She loved her miniature poodle, Misty, her ornery old cat, Gus, and her newest family member, Rocky.

Nancy loved to travel, having travelled the United States with Fred in their Winnebago, and visiting many countries, including living in Indonesia and South Korea for six months each. Many summers were spent on their island in Maine, and winters on The Outer Banks in North Carolina.

In addition to her loving husband, Fred, of 69 years, she is survived by her daughter, Leslie Keith and husband Verne of Winthrop, Maine; son, Thomas of Bristol; daughter, Kathryn of Canton; son, David and his companion, Shari, of Ft. Pierce, Fla; and Martin Tobey who is also considered a son, of Thomaston.
