Jerome Mugavero, Jr., 75, of Harwinton, beloved husband of Joanne (Vivian) Mugavero, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born December 31, 1945 in Norwalk, son of the late Jerome Mugavero, Sr. and Mary (Favuzza) Mugavero and had lived in Ridgefield and Killingworth prior to moving to Harwinton 30 years ago. Jerry was a graduate Stevens College, and the University of New Haven Class of 1968, having received his Bachelors Degree in Business and had earned his M.B.A. from Rensselaer in 1995. He had worked for Olin Winchester Corporation as Production Manager and in 2014 had retired as Operations Manager of Otis Elevator, previously part of United Technologies. While in Killingworth, Jerry was a Little League Coach and was a member of the Killingworth Lions Club. He was an avid hunter often accompanied by his loyal yellow Lab. Being outdoors, attending his fruit trees, gardening, fishing, biking and kayaking were among his passions. He made his own wine with the family wine press. He was happiest in his kitchen baking bread and making all things Italian, especially recipes passed down from his mother. Jerry lit up with joy being a loving grandpa to his six grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife of 30 years, Jerry is survived by his children, Vincent Mugavero and wife Erica of Winter Garden, FL, Jerome Mugavero, III and wife Gina of Greenwich, CT and Lisa Mugavero and husband George of Spotsylvania, VA, his six grandchildren Viviana, Anthony, Mirella, Ethan, Charlotte and Grayson, and his brother, Peter Mugavero and wife Leslie of Lake Worth, FL. He was predeceased by his sister, Agatha Mugavero-Pontello.
