Obituary for Lionel Houle

Lionel F. Houle, 99, of Bristol, husband of the late Paulette (Dupuis) Houle, died April 30, 2022 at his home. He was born March 2, 1923 in Berlin, NH, son of the late Albert and Exilda (Lamoureux) Houle. He was as proud Veteran of the U. S. Army. Mr. Houle was an Electrical and Mechanical Draftsman who enjoyed home improvement projects and buying multifamily homes for remodeling. He was always seen with a hammer in his pocket and willing to make anything better for everyone. Lionel was a member of St. Matthew’s Church in Forestville.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Nancy Hodge of Simsbury, Debra Omichinski and husband Paul of Burlington, and Cindy Skelskey of Bristol; brother, Roger Houle of Bristol; sister, Beatrice Johnson of Torrington; his grandchildren, Paul Omichinski, Ryan, Aubrey and Emily Skelskey, William Gimpl, Sandra Prado and Ashley and Justin Lionel Hodge; his great grandchildren, Frank, Joshua and Nicholas Kawa, Adrian and Jayvian Morales and Romeo Lopez; four great great grandchildren, Grace, Ryleigh, Brook and Logan Kawa and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his dearly beloved wife of 74 years and his parents, Lionel was predeceased by three brothers, Armand, Axel and Roland Houle and sister, Lucille Michaud and Laurette Brault.

There are no calling hours. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 14th, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 120 Church Avenue in the Forestville section of Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
