Obituary for Virginia Ames Lerro (Ames)

Virgina A. Lerro passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022, a few days short of her 93rd birthday. She was born in Winthrop, MA on October 9, 1929, the daughter of Chester and Myrtle Ames. Virginia graduated from Goucher College in 1951 with a degree in Psychology. She was a long-time resident of West Simsbury, CT, and for years volunteered at FAVARH. Virginia was a member of the Simsbury Garden Club and the Simsbury Women’s Club. She was an avid bridge player and voracious reader and loved watching tennis and the Boston Red Sox.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Thomas Lerro and grandchildren, Thomas Ricciuti and Michael Lerro. She is survived by her children, David Lerro and wife Ruth of Kensington, Donald Lerro and partner Susan of Colchester, Janet Vincent and husband Reed of Barkhamsted and Susan Lounsbury and husband Ron of West Simsbury. Virginia has 10 surviving grandchildren, Sara Murdock (Nick), Erika Lerro (Calvin), Jason Vincent (Jackie), Brian Vincent (Emily), Andrew Vincent, Catherine Lerro (Mike), James Lerro (Katie), Anna Ricciuti, Lia Ricciuti, Nicholas Ricciuti and granddaughter-in-law Jessica Lerro, in addition to nine great-grandchildren, Landon, Owen, Avery, Kate, Jack, Mara, River, Stella and Raegan.

Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to vacation with all her family every year in Maine. Her family will remember her cheerfulness, sense of humor and generosity.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookside of Avon for the excellent care they have provided Virginia for the last three years.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, October 11th from 10AM - 12 Noon closing with a memorial service at 12 Noon.
