Robert Martin Paterson, Sr., 77, of Canton, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Lynch) Paterson, died Sunday, October 30, 2022 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born January 27, 1945 in Ayrshire, Scotland, son of the late Alexander and Mary (Gilerad) Paterson and had lived in the United Kingdom prior to moving to Canton 50 years ago. Bob was a Merchant Marine and Sailor for many years and had retired from Nortech as a Partner and Chemical Engineer. In addition to his great love of sailing, he enjoyed the outdoors, traveling in Europe and summers on Block Island. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife of 50 years, he leaves his son, Robert Martin Paterson, Jr., his daughter, Lt. Col. Catherine Ann Paterson and his granddaughter, Audrey Paterson, all of Canton; his sister, Morag Flower and husband Barrie and his brother, Brian Paterson and wife Cynthia, all of England and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Thursday, November 3rd from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM closing with a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM, with a reception at the family home to follow.
