Obituary for Sarah Rogers Warner (Rogers)

Sarah Rogers Warner passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022 surrounded by her children on a beautiful New England fall day. She was born Nov. 17, 1939 in Bronxville, NY, daughter of Donald Kimpton and Jeanne Maltby Rogers.

Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many. She attended Bronxville High School and graduated from Skidmore College with a major in American Studies.

With the nickname “Pixie”, Sarah was active with social clubs in high school and college and was the literary editor of the “Scoop”. Upon graduating from college, she married Lieutenant Seth C Warner and moved to TwentyNine Palms, CA where she taught elementary school while he was in active duty as a Marine. In 1964 they returned to Connecticut and refurbished a classic New England farmhouse in New Hartford where she raised her family and found solace throughout her life and into her final days.

Sarah was quite social and an accomplished salesperson. She worked selling advertising for the Foothills Trader and Litchfield County Times newspapers. She furthered her professional career in business development for Moss Warner Communications. She later became the facilities manager at Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford Ct., and a sales associate at Barnes and Noble.

Sarah was also active in her community and gave time to others as a volunteer at Planned Parenthood, Hartford Garden Club, Renbrook School Parent Trustee 1977- 1985, served as treasurer of the town of New Hartford, and campaign manager for Senator candidate Dan Dwyer. She often would host events for her children's school classes with pony rides and hayrides providing country experiences and time outside.

Her children have fond memories of her waking early on Saturdays to drive them to horse shows with horses in tow and spending full days cheering on her children, taking them to hockey practices and games and to Ski Sundown. She lived her life with vigor, purpose and passion and encouraged others to do so too.

She loved family, reading and being outside. Her passions were holidays and family gatherings, gardening, horseback riding, tennis and long walks on her favorite beach in Small Point, Maine. She kept busy with her gardens, pets and farm animals. Later in life, she enjoyed simple pleasures like walks in the garden, reading books and sitting in the warm sunlight.

She is survived by her brother Donald Rogers who currently resides in London England, and children and spouses Rusty and Suzanne Warner, Ben and Kirsten Warner, Sally Warner and Norman Krisher, and grandchildren Pilar, Lili, Piper, Tate and Carlin. She has left an indelible impression on so many people including strangers, friends and family and has countless friends across the country.

A celebration of life event will be organized in the near future. In memory of Sarah, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood,
