Obituary for Henry John Wydra

Henry John Wydra, 77, of Burlington, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. He was born May 9, 1945 in Bristol, son of the late Henry Frank and Lillian (Zack) Wydra and had lived in Burlington for many years. Henry (Hank) was a Machinist for New Departure Hyatt for 32 years and in his retirement had worked at Ray’s Store in Burlington and most recently in the deli of Stop & Shop in the Simsbury and Unionville locations for 15 years. He was a very hard worker, always arriving early to ensure everything was ready for the day. Hank enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing and loved to drive through the country, especially in his Camaro. He enjoyed cooking and never disappointed his grand puppies by showing up without his homemade jerky and on occasion would share with friends and family. He was quick witted and had a sense of humor that would always make everyone laugh.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wydra-Szydlo and her husband Todd Szydlo of Canton; his son, Henry “Butch” Wydra, Jr. of Amston; his sister, Gladys Janson of Glastonbury; his grandpuppy, Kahlua; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Wydra and sisters, Joan Delfino, Rosemary Forcier and Theresa Petrosky.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Sunday, November 20th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a reception to follow. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 21st at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 139 South End Road in Southington. Hank donated to many charities and organizations, and it was difficult to pick just one, but keeping the upcoming holidays in mind, donations in his memory may be made to Toys for Tots.
