Obituary for Marjorie Z. King (Zima)

Marjorie (Zima) King, 94, of Canton, beloved wife of Kenneth L. King, died peacefully Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. She was born August 16, 1928 in Burlington, daughter of the late Maciej and Helen (Munich) Zima and had lived in Canton all of her life. Marjorie had worked at the Collins Company prior to raising her family. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville.

Marjorie took pride making holidays special for her family and friends, cooking and baking traditional dishes and desserts from her polish heritage. In the summer she froze vegetables from the garden and baked desserts with the fruit from the orchard, in the fall she supported the family tradition of making apple cider.

She enjoyed taking care of her family and friends, she was a Mom to many besides her children.

She would share stories from her life and always taught those around her to be thankful for what they had. She would go out of her way to help all those around her, in particular those that “have it tough”.

She enjoyed watching the wildlife; bears and deer in the apple orchard, the hummingbirds around the flowers, and she loved the cardinals. She enjoyed the annual family Cape Cod vacations at Kingsbury Beach where she would clam, work on puzzles, play on the sand bars, and take walks with the family.

She was a fan of the NY Giants and UCONN Basketball, she looked forward to watching the games with Ken.

In addition to her loving husband of 71 years, she is survived by her daughter, Susan Wood and her husband Darren of Barkhamsted; her sons, William King and his wife Carole of Noank and Jarvis King of Canton; her daughter-in-law, Jamie King of Canton; her grandchildren, Aaron Zickefoose and wife Cathleen, James Zickefoose and wife Angie, Brian King and wife Amber, Kevin King and wife Katrina, Morgan King, Brittany King; her great grandchildren, Elijah Zickefoose, Dylan and Ella Zickefoose, Harper and Kendall King, Konnor and Kassidy King.
