Obituary for James R. McGough

James R. McGough, 86, a long time resident of Connecticut, passed away January 13, 2023.

James was born December 8, 1936, in a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, PA to Charles E. McGough and Ruth V. (Kiley) McGough. He spent four years in the United States Air Force from 1954-58. He earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, NE and a Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. He then became a CPA and taught at the University of Shippensburg, PA and later, the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT. He then worked eighteen years at Northeast Utilities (currently Eversource) prior to retirement in 2000. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, sculpting in stone, guitar playing, motorcycle riding, card playing and sculpted birthday cakes with unique decorations for grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth McGough.

James is survived by his wife Edith of 62 years; daughters Christine Grulke, husband David Grulke of Tolland, CT; Sandra A. Coppola, husband Andrew Coppola of Wolcott, CT; and son, Glen D. McGough and significant other Tracy Whittingslow of Burlington, CT. James leaves 11 grandchildren, one great grandson and is also survived by a sister, Thelma M. McGough of Aspinwall, PA; and a brother, Robert R. McGough of Gatesville, TX.

Funeral services will be held at Seabury Continuing Care Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT. on Saturday, January 28th at 11 a.m.
